淚 和 沉默...


佐治．高登．拜倫是英國浪漫派詩人，1812 年因發表了「查爾特．哈羅得的遊歷」而成名，
後來因為相當痛恨貴族社會的虛偽，於 1815 年離英至瑞士、義大利。
1821 年拜倫幫助加里波底的義大利統一運動，1823年加入希臘獨立軍和土耳其交戰，
卻因染患熱病客死於密索隆基（Missolonghi）。
拜倫在道德方面，受到當時英國社會的嚴厲批評，
相對地，他對英國貴族虛偽不實的態度，亦是相當痛恨。
拜倫的作品，基本上不是壯烈的諷刺社會虛偽的詩篇，就是充滿浪漫色彩的情詩，
而他的情詩對日後歐洲浪漫主義的開展，有著非常深遠的影響。

英國十九世紀浪漫主義詩人拜倫的詩選。共收錄28首名詩，包括〈給芬蘭犬墓碑題詩〉、
〈當初我倆分別〉、〈訣別詞〉、〈三十六歲生日〉等名篇。




當拜倫的愛犬波森死後, 拜倫在牠的"墓誌銘" <紐芬蘭犬墓碑題詩>中透露了對世人的諷刺:

"人啊! 你這虛弱的片時過客!

權利腐蝕你,奴役使你卑污

誰把你看透, 就會鄙棄你, 離開你---

僭獲生命的塵土, 墮落的東西!...."
